My Vision for Ward 4
Our schools are at the heart of our community and the foundation of a successful future. As a candidate for School Trustee in RETSD Ward 4, I am committed to transparency, responsible stewardship, and high-quality education so every child, every family, and every school in our division can thrive.
Practical priorities for our schools
Student achievement and early support
I would ask for clear data on literacy, numeracy, attendance, graduation, and student well-being. Programs that work should be strengthened; those that do not should be reviewed, and students who fall behind should receive help early.
Safe and responsive schools
I would press for clear action on bullying, violence, chronic absenteeism, and classroom disruption, with parents informed and staff properly supported.
Responsible financial decisions
I would review budgets, major contracts, capital projects, and administrative spending, asking whether each major cost is necessary, affordable, and connected to student needs. I would listen, ask difficult questions, explain my decisions, and work constructively for practical improvements.
Turning Plans into Action
Measure progress
I would ask for clear baseline information, measurable goals, realistic timelines, and regular progress reports. I would review achievement, attendance, safety, and financial data, compare results over time, and ask what is working, what is not, and why.
Listen to Ward 4
I would bring the questions and concerns of Ward 4 families to the Board through regular conversations, community meetings, and accessible email contact.
Review spending and follow through
Before voting, I would carefully examine budgets, contracts, and major projects and ask how each proposal supports students and schools. Where improvement is needed, I would support practical pilot projects, clear evaluation criteria, and follow-up reporting. I would explain my decisions publicly and work respectfully with fellow Trustees, staff, families, and community partners to turn evidence into achievable action.
My unique experience and perspective
I bring extensive experience in finance, organization, and analysis, supported by specialized university-level studies encompassing both business administration and economics. I am accustomed to reviewing budgets, assessing risks, comparing alternatives, and examining whether measurable results are being achieved. My experience with different systems and approaches has taught me not to assume that there is only one way to reach a goal. My approach is independent and practical, not politically motivated: I listen first, test assumptions, distinguish between essential needs and low-impact spending, and explain decisions transparently. This perspective helps me evaluate proposals based on evidence, affordability, long-term consequences, and their direct impact on students, staff, families, and schools.
